No More Medical Tourism Horror Stories

Author(s): Harjer Kadhim

The last few months have reminded us more than ever about the importance of global access to quality healthcare. When it comes to emergency medicine we tend to jump to the solutions, when really we need to spend more time on prevention. The medical tourism industry has been riddled with horror stories of improper care that has put a stress on the NHS when these patients return back from abroad. But things don’t have to be this way. That is why I founded Med-Ez, an online medical tourism platform that connects patients with vetted doctors worldwide. Our focus is on preventative care, working closely with doctors to make sure they comply with global health and safety standards to mitigate risk for our patients. Having seen the flaws of the medical tourism industry, and working to bridge these gaps, there are some universal steps we can all be taking to prevent medical horror stories.
