Abstract :

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder affecting carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism. It represents a heterogeneous group of disorders having hyperglycaemia, which is due to impaired carbohydrate (glucose) utilization resulting from a defective or deficient insulin secretory response. DM is associated with long-term complications damage, dysfunction and/or failure of several organs, (heart, liver, kidney, eye, bone, joints, skin and mucous membrane, blood and nerve system) and also have many oral complications. The aim of this research to evaluate the anticipated effect of both Zamzam water and Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) on tongue tissues. It could be concluded that, diabetes mellitus causing damage changes in tongue tissues. Using Zamzam water with its essential nutrient element could be given to help in restoring the integrity of the damaged tongue tissues and taste sensation after degenerative effect of DM. On the other hand, EGF causing relatively and slightly improvement of the damaged tongue tissue. Recent Publications 1.
