Abstract :

Rehabilitation of edentulous arches and immediate/ post extraction subjects with fixed prosthesis using four implants: two axially oriented implants in the anterior region and two tilted posterior implants is commonly preferred by the patients because of the lower cost of the treatment and lack of requirement for additional operations such as sinus lifting or bone augmentation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the outcomes of a protocol for function of fixed prosthesis supported by four implants with three different implant systems (Nobel Bio care, Z?¼rich, Switzerland; BEGO Implant Systems, Bremen, Germany; The Straumann Dental Implant System, Straumann AG, Basel, Switzerland) in the completely edentulous maxilla and mandibula. Three male patients edentulous for a lengthy period due to the periodontal disease requiring a fixed prosthetic rehabilitation in the maxilla and mandible was referred to the Department of Prosthodontics-University of Marmara. The implant site was evaluated with CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography). Temporary complete dentures were made immediately after implant surgery. After three months of the healing period, the definitive prosthesis was given to the patients. As a result, this concept often results in lower costs because it allows for fewer implants being placed versus traditional implant oral rehabilitation procedures. The long-term results of this technique and the numerous advantages of the reduced morbidity, the high patient satisfaction, and relatively low costs should be considered when a decision among the alternative treatment options for an edentulous jaw should be made.
