Medicinal Plant

Medicinal plants have been used since ancient times for treatment and prevention of various diseases. Plants create many different types of chemicals that has the medicinal properties and have the capability of curing many diseases of ailments of not only humans but also for all the animals, birds, insects and all other biological species by intake of the same or even by application of the same in any wounded area. The application of plants and plant extracts directly for medical usage has been known as the medical branch of Ayurveda. Those medicinal plants are widely utilised in non-industrial basis by local people living around non-industrial areas. To cover the issues of inadequate drug supply, prohibitive cost of treatments, side effects of several synthetic drugs and development of resistance to currently used drugs for infectious diseases with the growing population, Plant sources to produce, medicines have come out again in an increasing pace to serve the health requirements of the populations. India is known to be the major and the ancient producer of medicinal plants and medicines derived from plants which involves the practice of Ayurveda and Unani medicines. It is recognized that more than 30% of all the plant species over the world have one or the other medicinal values and could be used to cure and prevent diseases.
